While Nora's books describe the challenges of a bygone era, a young reader will see many connections to today's life issues and will appreciate how Nora was able to handle them during her life. She titled her blog “Late Bloomer.” It was only after retiring from a busy life as an editor and administrator that Percival began to write books – a lifelong dream – and in the past ten years she has produced three memoirs and a novel. For good measure she has also made a book out of the antique postcards her parents exchanged during their courtship in Russia in 1913. The memoir trilogy begins with the story of the author’s childhood in Russia during the first years of the Revolution, and her coming to America when she was eight. The second book is a poignant student love story in the era of the Great Depression, built around the many letters they wrote each other. Now the new work carries her story through World War II, and chronicles the struggles and vicissitudes of an American woman during those arduous years.
